Access to database icons

I'm aware that it is possible to extract the basic/old style database icon using either DXL or using a HTTP request (but only if the database is on a server with HTTP enabled). If I try to extract DXL regarding the new-style database icon which might be a PNG image I receive nothing back. Will this be supported in a future version?

I need to be able to see if there is an enhanced icon (local database!) and if so then somehow show it in an XPage on the Notes client.
